New and Expanded Meeting Facilities and Guestrooms
Planners that haven’t been to the region recently will be amazed at the many new and renovated hotels and resorts that are prime locations for conferences and meetings. Leading the way is Marco Island, where the islands’ guest experience has transformed with major renovations and additions at all three beachfront resort hotels.
The Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort rebranded as the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort on January 1, 2017 after a $320 million renovation that will continue through mid 2017. The resort now features 716 newly renovated and enhanced guestrooms, new dining options, a re-imagined lobby and all of the amenities and service standards befitting a JW Marriott. Work continues on the new adults-only Lanai Tower featuring a chef-driven restaurant, rooftop lounge, new meeting space featuring beach and Gulf views, a luxurious new pool deck, a virtual entertainment center, and 84 additional rooms to bring the resort’s total room count to 810.
Olshan Properties recently unveiled its $40 million transformation of the Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort & Spa. Upgrades at the boutique style resort with 310 rooms include a new entryway with a floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the beach and Gulf of Mexico. The Deck at 560 Restaurant and Bar is a new indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant for everything from breakfast and lunch to casual drinks at the pool and indoor and deck seating for cocktails and dinner. The resort’s 12,000 sq. ft. of meeting space received an upgrade to include patios for pre- and post-event gatherings.
The 93-room Marco Beach Ocean Resort completed a comprehensive renovation of its one- and two-bedroom suites, Gulf Ballroom, and pool area. The updated luxury interiors capture the essence of the boutique resort’s beachfront location in a palette of soft blues and mint greens against white and sandy-hued backdrops, with warm and washed wood tones, linen-inspired upholstery, and elegant mirror and satin nickel surfaces.
In Naples, planners will be delighted to find a new downtown hotel plus renovations at many existing properties.
The 183-room Hyatt House Naples/Fifth Avenue on the picturesque Gordon River section of Naples Bay opened in March 2016. The hotel has 3,160 sq. ft. of meeting space and a large waterfront restaurant/bar.
The Naples Grande Beach Resort has just unveiled its newly renovated public spaces. Marked by edgy touches and modern décor, $2 million worth of enhancements were made to the resort’s Vista Ballroom and Lobby Lounge.
The Inn on Fifth and Club Level Suites has renovated their executive boardroom meeting space and has redesigned the hotel’s pool deck with new landscaping and accents. Also completed is an extensive remodeling of the award-winning Spa on Fifth. The full-service spa has all-new interiors and contemporary design elements. The hotel’s new signature restaurant, Ocean Prime, opened in December 2016.
The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club has completed a total redesign of the AAA Four-Diamond beachfront resort’s historic golf course. The redesign was done with input from golf icon and acclaimed course designer Jack Nicklaus in collaboration with noted course architect John Sanford. The course is open for public play as well as for resort guests. This major $9 million project follows $50 million in impressive renovations and enhancements at the resort over the last few years.
The Seminole Tribe of Florida added a new 99-room hotel at its casino and entertainment complex in Immokalee just northeast of Naples featuring modern décor with a fresh Florida feel. The entire Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee complex is now 175,600 square feet, up from its previous total of 75,600 square feet. The casino floor expansion now totals more than 51,000 square feet, with more than 1,300 slot machines and 38 live table games including blackjack, baccarat, and poker.

The outdoor garden areas featuring the plants of Brazil, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, and Florida, as well as an event lawn, also provide excellent reception spaces.

Nature walks and boat tours of the reserve are available, as are volunteer opportunities to participate in reserve’s research and maintenance. The Dolphin Explorer cruise boat, with two daily departures from Marco Island allows teams of participants to serve as citizen scientist dolphin researchers. Teams work with a naturalist on board to collect data, photograph and log activities of the resident bottlenose dolphins that live in the estuaries surrounding Naples and Marco Island. This rewarding and challenging experience provides educational and fun team challenge opportunities or leisure breaks.
Gulf Coast Clays is an expansive sporting clays, trap and skeet shooting club in the Port of the Islands area halfway between Naples and Everglades City and convenient to both Marco Island and Naples resorts and hotels. The Institute's sprawling 80,000 square foot exhibit space is a unique and memorable venue for both large and small group events.
